Can anyone post a picture of the original escutchion used on the 26-27 fordor? I have two sets that are different and don't know if either or correct as they didn't come with the car. Also, did the other enclosed body styles use the same design? The ones shown n bruce's books appear to be cone shaped like the standard Model A ,whereas the ones that I have are flatter, but definately not Model A.
The escutchion you describe may be the ones used
for the 23-25 years.
The cone shaped ones are the ones for the 26-27 T's since the riser handles are a different shape than the 23-25 ones.
The suppliers usually show the escutchion's and handles for the 24-27 closed cars as the same but they are not. They usually say the handles are all thats avaliable for the closed cars.
Nobody makes the earlier handles and escutchion's (23-25) as of yet I dont think.
I believe the cone shaped ones are correct for 26-27. Check a suppliers catalog to see.
I have a 24 Coupe that takes the flatter style.
I figured the cone shaped ones were the closest to the originals since that is what all the vendors sell and recommend. I will post pictures of the others that I have to see if anyone recognises them. Whether they are pre 26 Model T or not, they'll probably go on Ebay.
Posted are pictures of the escutchions in queston.

Those are used on the 23 - 24 Fordor with the wood framed doors. In particular, the ones you have look like the ones used after Nov. 1923. The regulators on the wood framed doors used the handle with the big screw in the middle to hold it to the regulator shaft. The 25 - 27 Fordor with the all steel doors used a different regulator, and used a handle with either a set screw on the side or a pin to hold it on (haven't figured out if it was one or the other or both - part drawing shows a set screw and hole for the pin and there is a part number for the pin). Those used the cone shaped escutcheons.

Thanks Dave for the explanation. Yep its what I thought, the earlier style.
I think this has come up before on the forum.
I just again looked at a leading vendors catalog and the handles and escutcheon are advertised to fit 15-27.
These fit and are correct for the 26-27 closed cars but not the earlier.
The regulators are correct as advertised. (26-27)
and they do fit those regulators.
I think the handles will actually fit on the earlier regulator shaft, but they are not correct. The escutcheon's may not fit as the cone shaped ones are much taller than the earlier style. Although, if you use the later handle they may fit. Nobody is reproducing the earlier handles or escutcheons.
So if you don't have anything, what is available may work (or not) for the earlier cars.

Here is a picture of Ed's car handles...I believe they are the originals. Do NOT buy springs for this car, they won't fit.
