I'm replaceing the pedal cams that bolt on the Hogshead BUT the actual pedals are wore just as much. Can one weld it up and file it smooth? Anything else?
Yes.
I just bend the pedals. Much easier and solves the problem.
I beg to differ with Tom's response. The distance from the stop to the end of travel is fixed. If the cam is worn, it does not start activating until the worn travel is taken up. At some point the wear is too much, and then you must build up the worn surfaces (or find better parts).
But, that's just my opinion!
Never seen it David. Been bending pedals to good effect for 40 odd years.
Tom, do you bend in the car or remove them first? What is the proper place to stop bending at? Thanks.
I think it is best to bend them out of the car, although I have bent plenty in the car. I use heat and bend them as close to the bottom of the pedal as I can. I bend them until they "look" right when they are in their forward but disengaged position. This is the position that they will naturally retract to. The reverse pedal rarely needs bent, the low and brake, almost always.
Would MIG welding or brazing be better? Will heat affect there strength?
David D ; You are right about the wear on the pedal Cams. You have to build up the worn surfaces .As soon as you touch the pedals they have to go side ways . That give you that the bands are as loose as possible in neutral .

After discussing these issues with Tom following a low drum failure due to improper adjustment, I bent my pedals low and brake as he suggested before final assembly and pedal adjustment. Then following the adjustment and set up process as per the Ford manual I now have a very smooth and easy to operate transmission. I will apply this technique also on my project car without reservation.
