We are looking for any Mutual Wheel Company products, brochures, post cards, news articles to put into our Company Display case or to display in our showroom. Mutual Wheel was once the worlds largest wooden wheel manufactures. Please visit our website for more interesting info.www.mutualwheel.com Still family owned since 1893. Many interesting autos were made here in the Quad Cities, home of John Deere and the Velie Motor Corporation. We are always looking for original Mutual Wheel parts and information. Thanks for your time.
Terry,
You will find several references to Mutual Wheel if you do a Google book search and limit the time frame to what ever period you want. Here is a search for 1893 to 1920:
http://www.google.com/search?tbo=p&tbm=bks&q=%22Mutual+Wheel%22&tbs=,cdr:1,cd_mi n:Jan+1_2+1893,cd_max:Jan+31_2+1920&num=10
Henry Ford built his first car in 1896, not 1893 as indicated on your website.
Also - a quick search on Google books indicates that Mutual Wheel was founded in 1891 - see the information below from "Implement Age" Volume 38.

Here's an ad from the Automobile Trade Directory:

Since Mutual Wheel was initially a supplier of horse drawn vehicle wheels, you may want to look in period trade magazines such as "The Hub," "The Carriage Monthly," The Implement Age," "Farm Implement News." I would also look at automotive trade journals such as "Horseless Age."
