I need to have at least one and probably all of my rims galvanized. I know little about the process. Is there a spec or a certain style of finish I must ask for? Does anyone know where to have this done. There used to be places around years ago but I suppose power coating has replaced it to some extent. I have looked on the internet but found nothing close in Michigan.
I painted my with a silver paint. Looks good after 5 years with only a few small touchups with an artist's brush. Lots of folks think powdercoat is the only way to go, but you can't fix it after it's done, with paint you can always touch up.
This post from last year has info on hot-dip galvanizing...if you want to go factory.

For me, powder coat works out well.
There is a galvanized spray available. It is used by radio techs when constructing and repairing antennas, feed lines, or repairing damaged tower part. It is very long lasting, quick drying, and stays on a very long time. It is available from companies like Tessco and others that are big on two way communication.
I like the hot dip. No doubt original. My wheels are natural but not for long. They are Ford wheels and should be black. At first I liked the natural look but I'm over it. Now to find someone to do the dipping.
Steve Jelf had some done last yr, check with him

Rust-O-leum sells what they call "galva-noleum" it's a galvanized spray in a can. I purchased it in the past at Lowes.
I cleaned and coated my radio tower in 2002 with RUST-OLEUM Professional COLD GALVANIZING COMPOUND and still looks great today. Very easy to apply. Comes in a 20oz spray can. Got mine at Home Depot.

Hey Steve.
Shot blast and hot zinc spray works very well and you can match colors light or dark. My TT truck rims are still great after 10 years.
Josh
Ford service bulletins says to use silver paint for touch up etc. I did the "RUST-OLEUM Professional COLD GALVANIZING COMPOUND", 5 years and they still look good. The rims were sand blasted before doing it.
