I need to remove and reuse the steel brackets/channel from the bottom of my old window glass for my fordor. It has been there for nearly 90 years and seem to have become one with the glass. Short of using the hammer/shatter process is there a better way? BTW I have tried the wood block/hammer combination, it did not work. Suggestions?

jack, i used a heat gun and a propane torch along the lower channel and it slipped off.
