That was fun. I thought I saw a few model A Fords, possibly a T based racer?
I wonder if any of those have survived. Lets wait and see what Roger may tell.
Iceracing was a big thing all over Scandinavia, but biggest in Sweden. They had the freshwater lakes and the colder weather. This film seems to be the Swedish Championship (Grand Prix) and you can see it was i big event as the Swedish Railways even had put in special trains to the event. You can also see all the cars in the parkinglot (on the ice!!).
There where also icerace in Denmark - for example at the lakes in Copenhagen - also for motorcycles (!!!).
I couldn't find a picture from Copenhagen, but here is one from Hillerød - at the lake at Frederiksborg Castle:

It was won by textile factory owner P-V Widengren in a Alfa Romeo 8C Monza, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_8C Another A/R Monza took second place.
Modified Model T Fords were never common in swedish racing it seems, but the same race in 1932 was won by a modified Model A Ford with a "Record" OHV conversion. Modified Ford V8:s were also successful in swedish racing, specially right after WW2 when modern race cars were scarce. In the 1933 race a modified Ford V8 took third place.

Just wanted to mention that, as I heard it, the number two car was a Norwegian entry.
One of the first cars you see close up is a Volvo. It's in the lineup and it's the one with the diagonal line on the radiator.
About 1:27 you see #11 registration number U14 which is either a 1932 Model B or 18 (V8). In 1933 that's a pretty new car, so it must be either a very wealthy driver or a factory team?
I went to a few races on the ice on lakes around Oslo in the fifties. I'll never forget a Type 57 Bugatti leaving a '55 or '56 small block Chevy in a cloud of white dust.
Forget the Fords, they were driving a Mercedes SSK! and Bugatti type 35 grand prix car! I only skipped through the video, but there are some good cars in there
In Michael's photo there's a chain on the front right tire of the MGTC #26, I don't see one on the rear, however. Ice racing doesn't look like a lot of fun to me!
The winner appears to be an Alfa Romeo.
I didn;t know MG had a TC that early
The T series MG sports cars started in 1936.
There was a TA, a TB and after the war there was a TC. The TC had a slightly wider body than the TB.
There were cars before the T series that looked a lot like the T series cars.
The MG in the 1933 Swedish Grand Prix was a J type with a small 840 cc (51 cui) engine. It finished second last, one hour after the winning Alfa.
In '32 there was the J2, in '33 there was a J3, which was a J2 with a supercharger running off the front end of the 2 main bearing crankshaft.
The overhead cam was driven by a shaft strait up the front of the engine with a bevel gear at top and bottom. The generator was in the middle of the shaft, of course since British cars are not really know to leak oil.....
at least the generator bearings got plenty of oil.
