I am strightening some of the spokes in my wire wheels and the spoke where it joins the rim have come loose on one of them. The spoke is not broken, just loose. Are these spokes welded to the outer rim? Can they be re-welded without causing problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I rewelded any loose ones in mine. I also braze weld around the back of lug holes to prevent further splitting. Your mileage may vary.

If you are referring to Ford wheels, yes and yes are the answers.

They are Ford wheels. Should they be welded only on the inside of the wheel? The connection on the hub is still good?

Often the outer spoke is loose at the rim. It is ok to weld it back. I prefer brazing as it is easier to dress down.

Larry, it is best to weld the end of the spoke on the inside of the rim. That way you will not leave heaps of weld around the spoke, requiring much dressing to restore the original appearance. I grind the area inside the rim to be welded to see just where the break is, and then use a mig welder to do the job. The weld needs to be cleaned up afterwards, but does not need to be ground down absolutely flat. The rim liner will protect the tube, even if the weld is left a little proud.
