In January, a discussion of the fastener holding the top to the windshield showed two types of what I will call a threaded shaft with a wing at one end.
I was warm today so I went out in the shed and looked at my 1926. It has the type of fastener like Dan Treace was kind enough to take a photograph of. However my 1926 looks like the one labeled for earlier vehicles.
I tried to look at the Ford parts book and the late Bruce McCalley's parts DVD but could not find any pictures. The wing fastener is included in part number 3588X and is called out as Bracket(top clamping assembly). Unfortunately the same number is listed for the 1922 -1925 assembly. My guess is that the part assembly would fit both the old and improved vehicles so Henry just listed one.
However, perhaps there was a change in the "wing" fastener (Part that screwed into the windshield post) between the 1922 -1925 and the improved Fords.
Someone thought that perhaps the year identification was incorrectly stated on the picture. (see topic: Runabout top to windshield post clamps dated Jan 12, 2013)
So, could owners of 1926/1927 open vehicles let us know which type of "wing" they have? Lets say type "A" has the round part extended past the threads and into the wing part(no threads when the round part extended into the wing part). Lets say type "B" has a "Flat wing" with the threads starting after flat part (just a flat wing without a extend round cylinder on the wing).
This would be a kind of majority "rules" type of thing and would only be a guide as to what is the proper fastener for the improved Ford, unless someone has additional information/knowledge they can post.

We have an early '26 Touring Car, no cross-member between the headlights. It has what you have called the B type wing fastener.
The engine we know has been changed out so the # I don't think will help you.

Our 27 roadster had the flat style.
It was because of that thread I started this one. So far two of us have the "Flat" type wing nut. But I would think we would need at least a response of 50 people before we could think anything is correct!
I have the rusty remains of 26/27 touring top irons. The wing fastener still there is the flat type (though not as sharp edges as in Dan Treace's photo in the linked thread)

My 26 roadster built in Nov of 25 has the flat type.
I checked my Canadian '26 touring irons today and they have the flat type wing screws.
