This weekend I combined travel for pleasure and for radiator repair.
Saturday it was short travel to the county fairgrounds for the local tractor show which included a visit by several old cars.
Saturday afternoon I put my non-fitting radiator in the car and made the drive to Salina to visit relatives and attend an evening concert by Joan Sebastian. He's a major star in Mexico, a wonderful songwriter, a top notch arranger and producer, and a good singer. He entered the arena singing on horseback, and did about half the show that way. He used three different horses who all danced in time to the music. It was a great show.
Sunday, after hanging out with the relatives in Salina, I drove over to Topeka through the beautiful flint hills. I spent the night there, and this morning drove on up to Sabetha, to Tom's Radiator Service.
Mine wasn't the only Ford radiator in the place.
By comparing my radiator to the other T Radiators in the shop, we determined that the inlet spout on mine was turned about a half inch too high, so I got to see a demonstration of radiator soldering.
The radiator is clamped in a holder that can turn it in any direction.
The support rod fitting was a little crooked, so that got adjusted too.
In a couple of hours the work was done and I was back on the road. When I got home this afternoon I put the radiator on the car to try the fit. It's not perfect, but as the saying goes, close enough for gummint work. Now the hoses fit.
Interesting radiator jig.. Thanks for the update,
Now THAT'S more LIKE it.......
Lookin' good Steve J, lookin' good!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Steve, I kinda figured you would end up in Sabetha. Glad you got it fixed. Dave
