Looks like are CIC (Commander in Chief) is getting support for military action against Syria.
Why do we need to get involved with another countries internal affairs?
I vote no for a military strike.
Philip,This is not the place for this discussion.I hope it gets removed quickly.
I vote for Military strike. Chemical warfare is nasty and they shouldn't be using it. USMC 2000-2005 Operation Enduring Freedom
That good question is also a bad question in this setting because it will quickly descend into the usual political urination festival. I'll post my crackpot political notions on Facebook, not here.
"Bomb them all to hell. And leave my cereal alone."
Our intelligence has been wrong before. We invaded Iraq on the indisputable proof that Sadaam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. He didn't.
Now we have indisputable proof that Syria used chemical weapons on a village of about 100 people, but up until then has killed over 100,000 using conventional weapons. Are those 100 lives more valuable than the 100,000 killed by bombs and bullets? Where is our outrage for the 100,000? Dead is dead. I don't think Syria is foolish enough to use chemical weapons, especially with their staunch ally, Russia advising them not to under any circumstances.
It seems more likely that Al Qaida used the chemical weapons to draw us into the conflict to remove the Syrian dictator so they can just walk in and take over, then start killing us and it just may work if we don't come to our senses and get our priorities straight.
As a president very sympathetic to the Muslims, Obama is too emotionally involved to be able to be rational. He has already destabilized Libya by helping to topple Khadaffi and started a civil war in Egypt by helping to topple Mubarak and now is doing the same to Syria. Ironically, in all these cases, Obama has and is taking the side of the insurgent rebels, who are none other than Al Qaida terrorists. The terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 and are bent on our destruction. If he keeps it up and continues his meddling in the affairs of this very volatile region, the whole region will be ablaze by the time his second term is up and Israel is right in the middle of it all.
Let us not forget. Russia and Iran are allies of Syria and if we attack Syria, Russia will have no choice but to declare war. Something the ultra macho Putin, who hates Obama, would be more than happy to do. Also, let us not forget, we are broke. There is no way we can pay for another war and with 80% of the country against the madness Obama is considering, it will be Viet Nam all over again. An unpopular war by an unpopular president with the people having no heart to fight it. A recipe for disaster and a total waste of life and tax dollars. Semper Fi. Jim Patrick
Who do you think is being most truthful? Obama or his lap dog media buddies?
I was going to stay out of this, but regardless of all the other aspects the situation, Jim has made my point. Apparently we don't care about killing as long as weapons we call "legal" are used. We object only when an "illegal" means is used. So, in retaliation for killing with unacceptable weapons we propose to kill using acceptable weapons. And certainly when we go on the offensive not one innocent person will be harmed.
Oddly, the administration has said repeatedly that regime change is not on the agenda. Dang. If I was told Assad is a real bad guy and we need to take him out for the good of the world, I could get behind it. If that's not what we propose to do, exactly what are we gonna do and why?
I have a 16 year old grandson, a 14 year old grandson and a grandson on the way. I wouldn't want to see them in harms way over this or anything like it. There's no point, as we have proven over and over.
REMOVE this post!!!!!!
It is a scam. i have been around long enough to know..
I suspect this thread is not long for this world, but what the heck...
Whatever the administration decides to do in Syria will be governed about 10% by the national interest of the United States and its allies and 90% by the 2014 congressional elections.
I was born just a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. In my 70+ years, I can't remember a decade where we weren't in some kind of war. I can't say I've seen any real progress in all that time. It's deja vu all over again.
Wag the Dog in action! Do you really think the Syrians, Russians and Iranians will do nothing?
I think the Russians, Syrians and Iranians are going to get together and say "those Americans are BAD BWANA. We better go home and hide!"
I don't think much of Sara Palin but I like her solution to this problem .... "let Allah sort it out".
With all the spying the U.S. government has been doing against the world, you would think they could have seen this coming and stopped it long before the first shot was fired. I don't like war, the bullets cause dents in my Model T.
OT means, "What make car do you think is in this old photo of my Grandfather? NOT POLITICS!!!!!
Please, find another forum for this stuff.
As stated on the top of MTFCA Forum page:
"Posts should be related to the Model T. Off Topic - OT - posts are allowed but should still be hobby related. Political posts and posts insulting other posters will be removed."
"Post for the good of the hobby."
I am sure there are thousands of websites where political discussions such as this are welcomed and enthusiastically supported by people politically knowledgable.
Why make our webmaster's job even more difficult than it is?
Relax, everyone. The thread will disappear soon. Chris is on the Hillbilly Tour and it takes him a little longer to react. As political threads go, it's fairly benign.
Any PIG farmers on here?? Send a C.A.R.E. package COD. Seal it with wax first... ws
No we should not get involved.
We cant police the world,we are broke now from trying.
Let the Syrian people fight thier own war.
These people have been killing each other from the beginning of time. Let them live their lives and let's live ours. Nothing will ever change over there and Americans are fools to think they can have any effect.
