Anyone go to this event? Understand it is very large and crowded.
Yep, lots of cars and people and antiques. Very huge event. But it is well organized and laid out and easy to get around. It is held 3 times a year the biggest vendor turnout it in the spring and fall. The summer turnout is much lighter due to many other events going on. It is spotty on Model T items but has Model A parts in good supply. Also camping is available right on the grounds with power and full hook up if desired.
It's worth the trip!
I used to take our 14 and have also taken the model A.Used to take a car and get in free but now you pay the same as the public but you might win .37 cents worth of plastic! Years ago there was one model T parts vender who had a lot of T stuff but i think he got old? Unless you get there 11 day's in advance the same red 59 caddy will be front and center! This is only what the big boy's told me,that some jerk stole the event from the Central Mich Old Car Club, gives out cheap plastic and makes money hand over fist!!! That is what i was told by many!! Bud.
Let me get this right..... You want to go and look around and maybe buy some stuff and they charge six bucks for you to just walk through the gate????? Even though this event is only a mile from our daughters residence, I rebel at having to pay "good money" to go and spend more "good money!" Of course, I'm a cheap bugger............
Over the past 40 +/- years I have seen a continuous decline in the amount of T parts at the Midland events. The past four or five years has really been disappointing. I started out with my dad as a vendor and now just go to try and spot a T part or two and maybe bring something home. Lately the only thing I bring home is the same money I went with minus $6.
I've been a number of times, but not since I started looking for T stuff. I can always find good usable woodworking hand tools, sometimes a few than can be flipped for profit to collectors, and every now and then I will find something to fit one of my other cars. I am planning to go on the 20th, so we will see what is out there T-wise.
