Does anyone have any experience with the 6 volt alternators that are advertised in "The Vintage Ford"?

I have installed on on a RHD 1925 Fordor. It is a good product and I am very happy with it.

If your experience is with Becker's 6 volt alternator I would have to wholeheartedly agree .

Had mine since October, unit provided bright lights on night-time Halloween parade, as well as several times of night driving with no battery rundown. In the same equation, battery is 2 years old, the reflectors have been re-silvered, use the 32-50 CP bulbs in new re-pro sockets & wiring has correct guage wire in the new harness.

Customer service is first class.

it is a great idea. I had a 64 ford that was generator equipped and did my own retrofit<trying to make it all look as close to original and it was a real plus.

They are great. Have had one on my 22 coupe for about 6-7 years. Fits right where the generator was. 1 wire hookup.

I got one of the first ones, really thought it would puke out on me, several years later still going strong. I kept my old stuff just in case.

I have two and both are doing well. One is mounted as it shoulde be on the block and the other is belt driven on a 1917 motor. Both are from L D Becker. The belt driven kit was easy to install and includes the needed bolts and spacers to make it all line up properly. They keep the lights bright and the battery up always.

When my generator quit about 3 years ago I bought a 6 volt alternator that is gear driven and mounts just like the generator. I have my generator rebuilt now but will hold off putting it back on until the alternator gives up. It works well, battery stays up and have good bright lights at night, even when driving at slow speeds and low rpm's.

has anyone had a problem with their alternator over charging? Ive heard and read that these alternators can do that. Also, for those that run alternators, the new ammeters warn about using with a alternator has anyone had a problem with alternator ammeter hookup?

Have had 0 problems with an alternator from Becker. A one wire existing hookup with no adjustment necessary.
Heard story's they might run to hot,
but as far as I can see its a story for stock product protection. The screw on gear does not wobble and comes on the alternator not a separate item to buy. Have not a clue about the new amp meter, I run vintage on that part.
