Changed oil don't know how many times, no gasket on drain plug, is there supposed to be one? never thought of it until I saw them in Lang's catalog. If they're supposed to have a gasket are they copper, felt, yesterdays Doublemint or whatever?

Depends on the type of plug. The flat ones have a gasket, at least mine has one it is copper. If you have one with a pipe plug, no gasket for that one.
