My radiator has a developed a pretty good leak and is in need of repair. Also there is some required soldering to re-attach one of the side panels that have shook loose. Does anyone know who is good at this located on the East Coast? I contacted Brassworks whose primary business is to sell, not repair existing radiators. I am located in Greenville, South Carolina.

Thanks,
Brad

Brad,
You can guess by the lack of replies that finding a person to repair a brass radiator isn't easy. Many of us fix them ourselves. That too, isn't easy. IT takes a lot of patience and a little luck. Reply back to me and let me know where the leak is. If the tubes are leaking, that's alittle tougher to fix, but not impossible. I had to fix mine and it was loaded with problems. I replaced both sides and also the trim on the front. In addition, the metal support rod broke so I had to me a trough for the lower tank to sit in. I also had to remove the rear cover to the top tank and rod out the core. Let me know where it is leaking. If worse comes to worse, you can ship it to me if you have no other solution and I can repair it for you pretty cheap. I'm in West Virginia by the way. Let me know. If I don't reply to yoru thread, click on my name and send me a direct email.

I am fighting a cracked overflow pipe on my 14. The hole is in the top tank so it drains the tank. I live near Brassworks and happened to be there for a club event. They were repairing several high $$ radiators for cars we only dream of owning. I asked for a "ballpark price" to fix my leak and the answer was about $700-800 if they have to remove the top tank. I am saving my $$$$ for a new radiator.

Brass Repaire is Expensive here in N.Y.S.,
We have a Man in our club that dose it for us.

Ask if some of your Club Members do it.

Richard,

I get the impression from you that N.Y.S. is about the worst place on earth to live. Why don't you just move? ;>)

Brad,

My overflow pipe shook loose on my '14 and the solder failed where it went through the bottom of the top tank. It did what Bill Dodd is talking about. Fellow in our club suggested a musical instrument repair shop near our meeting place. Also, it had a small hole in the bottom tank where it had rubbed the front motor mount.
$125 and four days later I was repaired. He said he would do horns and side lamps too if I was not in a hurry.

Just an idea. A lot of instruments are brass and cost $$$ so they are used to handling and fixing that sort of stuff.
