As Steven Thum mentioned in another thread, we had our annual overnight tour last weekend. We drive from St. Louis to Fulton MO on Saturday and back on Sunday. It was about 110 miles each way. I took way fewer pictures this time than I usually do, but here are a couple.
This was along the road on the way back home on Sunday. I forget what minor malfunction caused the pause, but it was fixed and we were on out way again As Steven said, no one went on the vulture wagon on this tour. The T in the foreground is Vince Mannino's and the one behind it is mine.
This was one of the high points of the tour, and had nothing to do with T's. After dinner, we went back to the hotel and a group just kind of spontaneously gathered on a patio by the swimming pool. Spent a really pleasant time just talking and sipping adult beverages.
(Wow, that message was typo city!! I should proofread better.)
P.S. Diana Thum took lots more pictures than I did. Maybe Steven will post some or link to an online album (hint, hint).
I am now at the Webster Groves fair in a booth next to the kettle corn seller and it is hot. Here are some more pictures.
This is the 14 that had the heating problem
I drove the vulture wagon but I had my car loaded on it. If some one broke down we would trade and they could drive the vulture wagon. It was nice to have a car when we got to Fulton Mo.
No that is not me at the back of my truck. That is Kent checking his beer.
This is Kent's 1911
On tour.
Stopping for lunch.
A piece of the Berlin Wall with Dick and Anja in front of it.
A stone church that was moved from London then restored. The church had been bombed out in WW II and was to be torn down. This and the wall are part of the Churchill Museum.
Did y'all go to the car museum there?
A rest stop.
On the way home.
Mike, many did. Anja was starting to fade and wanted to get some rest before dinner, so we skipped it. Went back to the hotel after the Churchill Museum.
Incidentally, for those who don't know, the reason there is a Churchill Museum and a piece of the Berlin Wall in Fulton is that, in March 1946, Churchill and Truman visited Westminster College in Fulton and it was there that Churchill gave the speech that included the quote,
"From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the Continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe. Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest and Sofia, all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the Soviet sphere, and all are subject in one form or another, not only to Soviet influence but to a very high and, in many cases, increasing measure of control from Moscow."
That was the first reference to the "Iron Curtain."
Did you guys run into John Danuser, in Fulton ???

George n L.A.
No, but we saw Dave Kern.
Dick,
We all do look a bit glassy eyed at the pool dont we.
The minor malfunction we stopped for was a couple of fouled plugs in the lead car i believe, and the coup in the rear needed a low band adjust.
Despite the 90 plus temperatures during the day, the tour was pleasant and very scenic.
We got lucky and it cooled off a bit in the evening.

What's the bear shaped license plate on the T in front of the antique store? Looks like a great time!
It's a Canadian plate put on by Sam Atkinson because he thought it looked cool.
Vince, I think you look a bit more glassy-eyed than the rest, but hey! who am I to say?
It was a very nice interlude after a long day, and part of a great tour.
