I am writing for help about a Gas Leak. The Leak is on a Brass Top - Holley "G" Carburator. It is leaking from the 'Vent?' hole where the Bowl Nut goes on.
What will cause this and How do you stop this leak?
Thanks
Tom,
Does this carb still have a cork float? If it does, odds are the shellac came off with the new blends of fuels and your float has sunk.
I replaced mine with the modern plastic version and the problem went away.
The material I am not sure of, but it is not cork and was replaced and is the color black. Thanks
It is a space age compound. Had to use the hinge off the old float. I have had one on my '14 for a few years now. Works great.
fuel is getting past the float valve.
1. bad valve seat for the plunger of the valve
2. bad/rough seat/missing gasket between float valve and carb (if this carb has one, I've never rebuilt a "G", but have done dozens of NH and L4)...
3. sunk float as others have said
For the Float Valve, is it at the bottom area in the Mixing Chamber where the Spray Needle lines up with at the Seat. Can you (Scott) or someone please past any information on how to or who can replace it. That was for the Brass Top - "G" .
Thanks
