Hello, I´m Amadeo. I have a 1924 Tudor. I´m looking for wood plans. I need mainly plans of the wood frame, wich is attached to the steel frame, but any plan would be welcome.
Does anybody know who can have those plans?

Amadeo, start looking at the different plans available and find one with dimensions that come closest to yours, perhaps a 24 Fordor, compare and see how you might be able to "morph" those plans into the proper size for your situation.
Someone will know which frame is the closest size and configuration to yours.

Give us pictures and some of the guys who do a lot of wood might be able to give you helpful directions. Good luck with your project, Dolo

Thank you both for your reply!

Leon, Do you know if exist plans for some of the woods at least? It would be helpful, I guess I should be very creative with shapes and sizes if there´s not.

Dolores, I think I´m gonna take the woods and reproduce them as well as I can. I´ll be posting pictures and asking for advice, of course.

Look at the FordWood website. They dont have the actual plans on their site but do have pretty decent drawings of the Ford closed car bodies wooden structure.
You can download them to have an idea of what you need for the body structure or order from them but be prepared to wait.
I dont think there is any other site that has the basic wood structure diagrams of any sort.

Amadeo, the Price List of Body Parts,March 15,1927, has a very good picture of the bare wood framework for a '24 Tudor. No dimensions though, but it will give you a very good idea of what is used. The vendors number is T 10. Dave

John, David, thank you for your reply. I have the draws that you have indicated. It will be my reference, I´ll ask you in this forum when I have some doubts.

By the way, which kind of wood do you recommend???

Amadeo, when I replaced some of the wood in my 24 Coupe I used ash. Some people will use oak or some type of hardwood. I chose ash because of its workability and strength. There are different opinions about wood to use in bodies. Ford used ash, oak and other hardwoods. To me ash is easier to work than oak but it still very durable. I bought mine from wood suppliers on Ebay. They were already cut close to the sizes I needed and I just finished them out. There wasent any hardwood suppliers close to my area. The ones I did find were way to high. You had to buy large amounts to get it and I didnt need to buy the wood in large quanities.

For structural work, oak, especially red oak, is a poor choice, because it is brittle. Beaudette used maple for Ford bodies. Ash was probably the standard structural wood used in cars back then, and even later. The frame of the MGTD is about 40% ash, IIRC.

Ok, then I think that ash will be the best choice.
