Yeah, I know it will vary, but the man wants to know. This is the '23 I've been working on. The owner now says he's considering selling it, but doesn't know what to ask. I'm not interested in it, so I am on his side. Although it says "Depot Hack" on the windshield, this is what I would call a Huckster. It appears to be made from birch plywood. The structural pieces are oak. The wood doesn't appear to have any rot, but could benefit from a good sanding and refinishing. It runs fairly well and has what I believe to be NOS Scandinavia bands. Exhaust manifold has a crack in it, but a new one isn't that much. It has a really free neutral, so I'm betting it has an aftermarket clutch. Three of the tires have some cracking in the side wall. One is new. No Ruckstells or Warfords. Paint is still OK, not show, but still shines and could be made to look better with a little elbow grease. It does have a few minor dings and chips, though. So give me a range, and I'll let the man know.
Thanks,
Hal
From what shows in the picture, a good range would be $7500 to $9500. Actual price depends on how much work it would take to get it in top condition. Top of the mark on these cars seems to be in $12000 range. Hope this helps.
Having a "free neutral" has nothing to do with an aftermarket clutch. This is one of the urban myths written for people who don't know how to adjust clutches.
I would guess the car is worth $4500 - $6500. Take off $500 if it has any kind of aftermarket clutch.
$6,500 minimum. Add $100 if it has a water pump.
Take off $100 if it has a water pump!!
(Hey, somebody had to say it!)
OH, a Wise Guy, eh???
POKE POKE!
$5500-$6500
Royce, I understand what you are saying. I have, and prefer, the stock clutch myself. And with 5W-30, proper adjustment and leaving it parked with the lever forward, I have no creeping problems, even in winter. However, this one is freer (Is that a word) than mine. I'm betting this is one is a Watts or something similar. I had the tranny open, but didn't pay any attention to whether the spring was square or round.
Thanks for the price range estimates. I'll let him know.
Thanks again,
Hal
I would say take off a lot more than that if it has a water pump, that means the radiator needs replacing! A T that has a good rad. does not need a water pump.
If it has a waterpump, mebbe the guy hadn't been to this Forum, and was overfilling the rad, which made him think he needed a waterpump. Or, a waterpump could have been added back in the era. Bazillions of them were sold back then, for some good reason.
