Dumb question..where does the patent plate go on a 22 touring car. I have 4 holes on the firewall below the choke lever assembly. however, the lower part of the choke mount gets in the way of the plate when mounted on the exterior of the firewall. Is something screwed up or does the plate mount on the inside of the firewall.

The patent plate on a '22 T mounts inside the car.

Yep. . . . . mounts inside the firewall. . . .. facing the passenger

Yup, and it is attached with four small black split rivets, the same ones that are used for the cowl lacing. I have found them at Big Flats.

Larry:

The '22 has a wood dash - are you sure Ford riveted the plate to the wood with split rivets? I would think it more likely it was held with escutcheon pins or small screws.

I guess old age is catching up with me. I know a '22 has a wood firewall, but just wasn't thinking! Thanks John for pointing out my error. Of course, Ford did make a replacement metal firewall.
