I was at Bonneville speed week last week, saw the Matrix Machine streamliner go 201.7 MPH with a model T block based engine. Single turbo. This is a new class record. I have no ties to these folks just thought someone may be interested, nice piece of work.
Here is Joel Young with his grandson in his Model T Speedster at the Arizona Speedster run in flagstaff two years ago.
The car is the same one used in 2009 and written up in The Vintage Ford during last year. Joel has updated the car with a new multi-speed gearbox, 4 or 5 speed, not sure which one he used. He took several runs, a little sensor problem on his first attempt and then one run at 205 followed by a second at 199.
Not bad for a 1927 Ford Model T block....
I think the record is the fastest speed attained by a four cylinder flat head at Bonneville.
