Look at all the pools of oil left behind...
Model T's are leakers.

I never knew a Ford that didn't leak.

That is a well built building. Look at the rafters and the way they are braced. I'll bet that it is still standing if not demolished .

That bracing between the joists is called bridging. It should be installed in all buildings if the contractor follows proper codes.

Adrian,
where is this photo taken?

Hi Dennis, I usually note the source, but I do not recall where this picture came from, other than that is is in the US 'somewhere'. I also do not have a higher res copy, so can't read the notes on the bottom left or the sign on the truck.
I would be happy to learn more about it though,
Cheers
Adrian

What are the two words preceeding 'Insurance'? I can't seem to make them out.

Hal, I blew it up as much as I could, but still couldn't make it out.

Me too. The 'fuzziness' just blew up with it. ;-)

I'm tempted to say it reads "Without Insurance." I'll have to see if I can clean it up any.

It looks like "No Owner Insurance" to me.

The building looks like it might have a flat roof built for a very snowy climate.
In my area we had several flat roof collapses this past winter due to the unusually heavy snowfall.(Western PA)

Extra thought- I'll bet those are real 2x12 rafters.

Roof or second floor above?

Look at those cross beams and suport piers.

Blocking may indicate it is a floor

I agree that the blocking indicates there is a floor above this space.

Just a thought but my feable eyes see the words,
"ask about Insurance" at the bottom of the sign.
Looks to me that there are only two words before insurance, the first word is clearly shorter and look to have the right number of letters for "ask about",
Although I have been known to be wrong, more than once!!!!!
Kevin

Kevin - I think you have won :-)

Kevin that makes sense. An entrepreneur would raise a need (the risk) and then offer a solution (ask about). Selling a policy on commission would add a bit to the income stream :-)
Cheers
