I just got the new MAC's catalouge and was pleased to see a HACK body for sale for $1900. I don't know if I will have mine built or buy one.
Anyway, I was planning on using my front/rear fenders, apron and boards from my Touring for the Hack. I will replace the back fenders as they are bent. Am I correct to assume that with the MAC 's Hack body that I can use my Touring metal above? I noticed that there is a HACK fender listed.

It depends upon the hack body. Some do use the standard rear fender. Some require the special straight inside fender. Check with your body supplier.
Good luck, and have fun, W2

Thanks ! But the Front fenders, running boards and splash apron are stock on the MAC body?

I would think that the front fenders, etc. that you have should be fine....

Did you call Macs and ask them?
I had a huckster with stock rear fenders and they looked wrong. If I were to do it again, I'd use a body or bed that allowed/required the use of the ones sold by Rootlieb for hacks.

My neighbor just went through a wood body installation. He learned a lot. There were no problems with the front fenders. He did not want to buy the proper rear hack fenders. The rear car fenders had to be cut and brackets made to attach them to the body. The splash panels for a car are about three inches too short for a hack, so rather than buy the proper panels, he added wood spacer strips below the wood body on each side and used the car panels. He has a functional fun car to drive, but it is still not very correct to the purists.

I used fenders from the trailer store :-) Most people never notice. I bolted them to the running boards, used a wood block to hold them at the right height, and built the body between them.

Keep it up, people. I have too many projects now. You're making me think those other chassis pieces I have could look good dressed as a hack.
I need to get going on the gasoline carriage.
Drive carefully, W2

Wayne,

Can one ever have too many projects? The one with the most projects wins, Right!!!

Thanks ! As long as I am replacing the rear fenders, I might as well go with HACK fenders.

Not that I've got one, but I have often wondered what rear fenders T members used when building a 26-27 T hack or wooden bodied vehicle. Sedan/ touring fenders would require a body contour to accomodate them just as pre 26 sedan/touring fenders do. That leaves coupe/roadster/pickup rear fenders as the most viable option, as they mounted to a vertually flat surface. ???

1909 fenders work, too.
