I have a ford pinion gear with an X stamped to the left of the ford logo and a CL to the right of the logo. Anyone know what these tell us?

Nobody knows? It is probably not very interesting, but I was just wondering since the others I have seen didn't have such marks as I recall.

I don't know what they mean, but, I have seen them on a few pinion gears myself.
