I have purchased Modern Neoprene seals for the restoration of my 1925 rear axle.
Am I suppose to leave the spring steel fingered lube deflectors out when using the new rubber seal and washer behind the roller bearing?
Keep the good stuff coming, I'll get it together yet!
The spring steel fingers work with the leather seals. They have to come out before putting in the new seals.
These came out of mine.

Just throw them away, and put the neoprene ones in instead. Use some sealant around the edge on the side away from the bearing to help eliminate leaks. Put in your new shells (the old ones are no doubt worn)http://www.flickr.com/photos/bruckzone/3803374558/in/set-72157620616047410/
Here is a nice way to put in the new shells.

Use lots of grease.

Tap on a new outer seal or at least use a new felt in the old cap.http://www.flickr.com/photos/bruckzone/3807875921/in/set-72157620616047410/
