What's a good setup for adjusting the carb from the dash of a racer? I would like to be able to adjust my Tillotson while driving rather than making adjustments when stopped. I have some flexible tuning shafts that came from early radio gear which could be used but would need to be fastened to the carb screw somehow. Small gearing would be another option but I'd like to hear what homemade setups others use.

Gotta see what you're working on before I can come up with any good ideas. But right off the top of my head, I'll bet you could rig up a flexible speedometer cable to your air/fuel mixture adjustment and then put it anyplace you want.
Look at the improved car standard arrangement and change the length of the shafts to suit. It the carb top is the old style with the two punched holes a little blacksmithing can make that work, or just change the screw top to the improved car version also

Another option would be to use a cheap 1/4" socket U joint and weld it onto a piece of 1/4" round bar. I am going to guess that the flexible cable will be to "springy" to work well for fine adjustment.
Garnet, needless to say my old setup pictured below is OK for starting, but any adjustments once underway needed to be done at a stop. Kind of inconvenient standing up, reaching over the W/S to adjust. I got some funny looks from people too! As George suggested I am going to a '26-7 carb setup, especially as I am making a hood for the car.
Garnet,
You say you are running a Tillotson carburetor - so I assume one that fits a model A?
If so, wouldn't the choke/mixture linkage that fits a model A be appropriate?
Snyder's sells such.

I thought I had a shot of the engine and firewall but apparently not. With the Tillotson, the adjustment screw is on the side and parallel to the block. I went thru my flexible tuning shafts and found a very nice one, but it's only 12" long and will have to be mated to a crank, but it will work.
If it turns out to be flimsy like you suggest Les I do have a handful more of them that are stiffer ...
I'm not familiar with the Model A setup Seth but I will check into it.
Jeff, what do you have on that car for a windscreen - that's going to be my next hassle on No.55

Finally found the photo
Garnet, my w/s is cast aluminum made by Elvin Townsend about 30 years ago. The height of it combined with the deep cowl makes for a looooong reach for the mixture control!

I think the screw you are pointing to is just the idle mixture. I think Seth is right and the main adjustment is to turn the one you have the choke hooked to.
