or is it my pos? The unread threads are in blue, when I've read them they turn purple, right? Now they are not turning purple, old or new threads, and I'm finding myself re-reading where I've already been, no new posts. Anyone else?

No problems at my end.(Australia.)

Sounds like you need to refresh the index. Also, The threads turn blue again when there's a new post.

By the way, I still can't get this thing to save my username and password unless I sign into the User Profile. Then it only lasts while I have forum window open.

And no, I'm not leaving IE. :-)

On my computer it makes a difference how I go back from a message to the forum index. If I use the back button the read messages stay blue but if I click on forum 2010 at the top of a message bar the read message will be purple. I think.

I think it has to me in my computer's memory, most programs where you read listings, like ebay change colors if you've looked at that item before, same as when you do a search, I can tell which sites I've been to. My daughter just got a new mac, so our computer budget is shot for awhile. I'm apparently hard on computers.

You should be able to adjust your browser to remember your passwords for certain things.

It's not the bowser; it's a glitch that infected this forum some months back.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Seth Harbuck - Shreveport, LA on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 - 02:01 pm:

It works fine for me. I guess my bowser is OK, my computer is OK, and I have an unifected copy of the forum.

Life is good. :-)

Seth

It's nice to know your bowser is OK. :-) Give him/her a milkbone or a rubber ball to make him/her happy.
What browser are you using.

Ricks

The bowser should be riding up in the front seat with you. :-) woof woof

My bowser is Mozilla Firefox.

I no longer have any bowsers in the yard, but I have two cats in the house and several outside.

Here's what wiki says:

Bowser (tanker), a generic name for a tanker of various kinds
A fuel dispenser (in Australian English)

Speaking of cats and dogs, this happened to a fellow Old Bold pilot recently:

Watch: Surf City cats survive coyote standoff

http://ocpets.ocregister.com/2010/10/26/surf-city-cats-survive-coyote-standoff/7 0028

They have the run of the town, as Animal Control says they are native, along with possums, skunks, et al. It's more common to see them at dawn or evening.

Any way you can keep the strays in check is ok with me.

Put a bowl of food out for the strays, and they behave quite nicely. That's been my experience.

This is "Torty" one of my outdoor cats. "Stray" because he doesn't belong to me. He's a cool kid and I'm glad he comes to visit.

This is a function of your browser, not the forum.
I just checked mine and they do indeed turn purple once read, but only when I exit and come back in.
Actually it doesn't technically mean you read them only that you have clicked the link at least once before. It should happen on all links on all webpages you look at.

ps I still can't figure out how a picture of a cat ends up on the forum????

Chris,
We are very adept at turning threads. :-)

Please accept my apologies for the thread diversion, Dolores and Chris.

I figured that Dolores had gotten her answer by now, but I was obviously very wrong about that.

No need to apologize Seth, as you said, I had already decided it was my own computer. I was just teasing. I don't mind these little forays that I think of as regular conversation between us.

That looks like one sassy little cat. I have a hard time passing up any stray, dog cat or person. We were recently at a convenience store where a dog was acting oddly outside, as if it were lost. "Dear God," I prayed. "let this dog's owner be in the store, 'cause that's one ugly dog that I don't want to have to take home." Her owner claimed her, and I was relieved beyond belief.

I have a hard time passing up stray dogs and cats, but I leave the stray people alone - they are far less predictable and usually far less appreciative of anything you do to help them out.

Seth,

If I was a stray would you take me in? Remember I like Okra! Or as Jimmy would say Okree!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Seth Harbuck - Shreveport, LA on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 - 06:52 pm:

Maybe next summer, John, when next year's okree is a'makin. :-)

But, you'll have to fight for that okree, or we'll have to lie about its productivity because the recipients fight with each other over it.

I never got any of it other than the okra and tomatoes that my mother cooked for one family get-together.

I didn't eat much of that crap - it's "old folks food". I LOVE okra - all by itself - boiled whole and served with butter, salt and pepper. No point in screwing it up by mixing nasty old tomatoes with it!

I hear you Seth, I'll have to hang on here till next summer! BTW Jimmy is a great cook! :-) My wife only lets me out of her sight when she is at work, and won't let me go hardly anywhere anymore.

Dolores and Chris,

My further apologies for chatting with John...

Corey,

Squirrels like the cat food too, and I thought they were vegetarians.

Thanks kep, I think he's cute too. He's becoming a shop cat real fast - he follows me into the garage and stays so close I have to watch out that I don't stumble over him.

We keep shop cats because rats can cause mechanical issues by chewing wiring. We gotta keep car windows closed however, hair and poop are not good interior accessories.
