How should I go about lengthening my standard column to Torpedo specs?

All help is greatly appreciated!

The MTFCA has a video that shows how to do it. The video can be obtained from most of the "T" parts suppliers also.

Gary,

Before you go to the trouble to lengthen the steering column, you may want to check to see if you would prefer a little extra room or not. The standard 1911 was 56 and the torpedo was 60 inches. Some of us tend to get a little larger in the waist over time. For an accurate reproduction yes, you would want to lengthen it, but according to the "extra features" on the DVD movie "Leather Heads" the average USA citizen today tend to be 60 pounds heavier and a little taller than those just a 100 or so years ago.

That is why the hot rod community offers a 1926-27 roadster body that is a little wider and a little longer/the seat is further back. We've grown a little as a nation.

Respectfully submitted,

Definitely need a longer column in the speedster. Plus I'm 6'3" 170, so I'm pretty skinny :-)

Can anyone speak to what's involved in lengthening one?
