NE, Milford, Heyen Old Car Collection and Farm

How about it, Rob?

How many old cars does it take to qualify as a museum?

You don't see many Ts in museums, compared to other brands. Of course, a museum is next thing to a mausoleum, which is probably a good place for all those old, impractical to drive today cars made of Unobtanium. :-)

Thanks for the inputs. Keep 'em coming.

The Canton Classic Car Museum, Canton, OH, has a nice Model T of about 1910 that for some reason they are calling a Model S. They also have a T speedster with an auxillary transmission, possibly Warford or similar, labeled Ruckstell. Otherwise a fine museum well worth a visit. Tons of memoribilia (sp?) dozens of beautiful old cars. Bob

Hey, Dolittle, I started this earlier this year, partly because I had a big trip coming up, and museums are great diversions.

Any time somebody wants to take it over, or put it as a separate link, please have at it.

I was about to ask people to provide websites every time, but I found it interesting to find places like Birdwood on googlemaps, which I would never have otherwise.

Just for anyone that is interested since it's already listed. The NC Trans Museum has a 1914 depot hack and a post 24(?) TT flatbed, they also have a Model A. At one point last year, there was a Model T at the NC Museum of History, but I don't know if it's still there.

While on the subjects of what constitutes a museum, I know of a few people that have extensive car collections within 30 miles of here. Each one having at least 50 cars, one has over 200 but he doesn't let just anyone see them. He has a first year corvette with only 9 miles on it! Another gentleman has a 1912 Caddy, very nice car.

Hayes Antique Truck Museum - CA

The Hays Antique Truck Museum contains one of the largest collections of antique trucks in the United States.

The museum was formally established in 1982 by Mr. A.W. Hays, a pioneer and leading figure in the California trucking industry. Retired after fifty years in the trucking business, with "nothing to do," this active 76 year old man began to collect and restore the old trucks you see at the museum today.

The museum's collection includes over 100 different makes of old trucks, representing 94 different manufacturers such as Fageol, Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Oshkosh, Peterbilt, and the one and only 1916 Breeding Steam Truck.

Also on display are trailers, industrial powerplants, tools, equipment, and trucking memorabilia. The museum attracts visitors from around the world and serves as an educational resource for schools and truck historians.

There is also a "Country Doctor Museum" here in NW Ark. which has a Model T Runabout. My guess as to why is that the Runabouts probably were quite popular with doctors. The "Doctor's Coupe" myth didn't start until much later.

I finally saw your reference to our working farm and car museum (OK, not much work this time of year):-).

Of course anyone is welcome to stop, and we are conveniently located between Pioneer Village (Minden, NE) and Speedway Motors (Speedy Bill's museum) in Lincoln.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas,

Don't forget about Oregon! The Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River has more than a few Model T's. It's also a living museum. Many of the cars and aircraft on display are driven/flown on a regular basis. The Second Saturday events get the cars on the road and the planes in the air, public invited...

I started working on adding the list to Ford Facts.

Tomorrow I will try and find .com addresses for museums that did not have a link.

Take a look at the left sidebar on the main page and let me know what you think. You will see some 'dead addresses' such as 'www.none" or www.9.com", those are due to the fact that I had to enter some sort of address or the page wouldn't recognize the entry. Don't you just love Modern Times!
