Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2011: Revised Radiator Mounting Assembly Diagram

I have always seen the radiator mounting assembly diagram for the radiator that does not show the location of the fender, hood shelf, or splash apron, since the hood shelf in these diagrams butts up against the rear of the radiator legs, so I decided to attempt to revise the diagram to show the order of the fender, the hood shelf and the splash apron on the models where the radiator legs sit on top of the hood shelf. What was the first year in which the hood shelf extended under the radiator legs? Comments? Jim Patrick

Thanks

Jim,

Great job.
I think we have the definitive diagram for this question from now on.

Very nice, you have a great diagram there for all Improved Car owners !!

David:

yes, the apron goes on top of the hood shelf, the radiator sits on the apron.

Jim,
Good clear assembly diagram, but for me it would be clearer if you would use the tag "radiator apron" rather than "splash apron".

Charlie

Ah, now it makes sense. That's helpful, as my "improved Ford" came with the radiator & the radiator apron inside the body!
Thanks!

Thanks Jim for the post. This was touched on back on Oct 20th form. But the drawing wasn't as good. I'll be using this drawing this spring to put my 27 back on the road. thanks again. John

Very good! I have saved the updated drawing for when I put mine back together too. I notice you didn't use quarter-sawn wood for the hood blocks! Heh heh heh!

PS Maybe this should be added to the T-bible CDs?
