I was just looking at the news on msnbc.com and they had some photos of the tornado damage from yesterday. One of the photos showed an old Ford dealership building that had been destroyed. The building is in Cullman, Alabama. It has that old time look to it and says "Fuller Bros. Ford Motor Cars Warrenteed Sales and Service" across the top of the building. Anyone know about this building? It looks like it has partially collapsed.

I think that building had a cover over the Fuller bros sign and the storm removed it. I have been in Cullman many times and have never seen that sign. If I had I would have gotten in there. Thanks, Dan.
Dont know about the building but Cullman had at least 3 tornadoes yesterday. Sister in law just got inside before one hit the courthouse there.
Years ago I was in Cullman on business and got to asking around about old Ford stuff. The man I was talking to at the greasy spoon directed over to a plumbing shop. Turns out the shop owner had a nice stash of NOS parts of which I bought a few. Perhaps they came out of the building in the picture?
Checking my Facebook before reading the forum, I saw a picture post on a FORD related "like' and then Googled it. The first item at the top of the page was this very post/thread on the mtfca forum site!

Man what a shame.
Here's what the building looked like before. Nice size building with a large shop in the back.
These are screen shots from Bing Maps "Birds Eye View" It took some plundering on Google Earth to find the building, but once I did it was downhill from there.
looking at the photos it appears that the exiting building was veneered with brick after the Ford dealership was in it. The storm must have swayed the walls enough to knock the bricks onto the street uncovering the old sign. Great shots, very interesting.
Wow! It looks like that at one time, a brick veneer was applied over the original masonry front.
Looks like it just crumbled away onto the sidewalk. Sad to say but I think that building's a goner.
Out here in lovely So.Cal. things like that happen now and then but not from tornadoes.
Makes you wonder how many old buildings are out there with stuff like this just waiting to see the light of day again. Hopefully under better circumstances.
I always look for faded advertising signs painted on the sides of old buildings. Been doing this since I was a kid.
Warren,
I Detroit we have an old building with an ad for Fink's Detroit Special Overalls, "Wear's Like a Pig's Nose".
If you look in that middle overhead shot, the buildins behind it with all of that stuff on the ground is (was?) an outfit called "Southrn Accents." The stuff you see outside is all manner of architectural antiques. Inside they have tons of antique doors, windows, stained glass, locks, copper bath tubes, mantels, you name it. I hope they survived.
My husband and I own this property.
According to the historical papers it was built in 1911. I am going to do a little more research, someone brought us a pic. of the upstairs of this building with buggies stored there. The building had to come on down, on the end where it is sagging there was a 16 ft. budget truck embedded in the building. We are hoping to put a building back as near like the original as possible. It was a Ford dealership until the late 70's. We bought the property in 1982 and had no idea that the wood siding was underneath the brick.
