Is there a different wiring diagram I need if I am running my headlights off magneto instead of battery??? And what did the 24's use anyway?

Definitely wired differently. Not sure of the exact routing on a newer vehicle with the dash mounted switch, but magneto headlights are wired in series. Battery headlights are wired in parallel.

Steve -- T's without starter and generator used magneto-powered headlights. Run a wire from the mag post on your coil box to the headlight switch, then another from the other side of the switch to the passenger's side headlight socket. There may be a wire in your timer wiring harness for this. The sockets should be double-contact. From the other post on that headlight socket, run a wire down below the fan (there should be a tube or some clips at the bottom of the radiator for it) to one post on the left headlight. Then one from the other post on the left headlight to ground. That's it. They are in series, so when (not if) one bulb burns out, you have no headlights.

Do a search Steve. One of the posts this year has a diagram on mag light wiring on it. Can't recall the thread title.

The magneto lights were gone by 1919 when electric start and battery was added.

You can run magneto lights if your mag is in great shape, (assuming you have later magnets and field coil, the early ones aren't up to headlamp output) then it shouldn't affect ignition performance for the coils.

Here is a drawing for mag headlamp wiring.

Just re-read you post, and no, by 1919 the Ford used 6-8volt, 21 c.p. bulbs originally for the electric head lamps, powered by the 6 volt battery installed for the starter.

Magneto bulbs are special animals, and not cheap. These need to meet the voltage output of the magneto, and are 9v 18 c.p. originally and then can blow if mag output is very high.

Magneto lights were not gone in 1919 Dan. They were not used on starter / generator equipped cars but continued to be standard equipment on non - starter equipped Model T's through 1926 model year.

Magneto headlights and non - starter Model T's were discontinued in 1927.

Just right you are, I meant that with the starter option and battery, no T used the magneto lamps. A starter car would only have battery lamps used.

magneto lights were gone by 1919 when electric start and battery was added

Perhaps my phrase wasn't clear enough. When I used to write instruction sheets, tried to follow the rule....."write it not so much as to understand, but as to not possibly be mis-understood" :-)

You know your wiring stuff on early T's. :-)
