Bill and I found this neat rear axle with a Hall-Scott Ruckstell and shifter complete with a set of the original type of Rocky Mountain brakes that are self energizing in either direction due to the center mounting of the shoes so that it pulls from both the top and the bottom for good stopping when traveling either backwards or forwards.
The most interesting thing is the clip or fastener that allows the drive shaft to be shortened by simply cutting off the tail end of it and clamping the torque tube on to the rear spool with this device so that the shaft does not need to have 12 inches cut out of it and have the tail welded back on. This allows it to fit under a Model T frame when a Warford transmission is installed in the drive line. Those old boys were very clever.
This assembly is rather complicated and I can't explain it in the classifieds without pictures so I placed it here even though this is actually a sales pitch. It is in Southern California and needs a new home. It is too heavy to ship and needs to be picked up in a pick up.
I think that piece was also sold as a repair part for broken driveshaft tubes or possibly as a reinforcement. Even tho it is on a late style driveshaft here, I think they came out earlier in possibly a different style, too. That's a good find, Frank.
