I have had a vibration for lack of a better word in my T forever or about 6 years. Funny thing I noticed this weekend is, if I move the steering wheel to the right about 1 o'clock all vibration goes away. If I move to the left slightly more vibration becomes apparent. I know all T's resonate but it is so smooth if I can just go in large right circles. . I don't see anything from the steering touching the drivetrain, so I am thinking maybe the front engine mount is bound or something. Any ideas on where to start? It is hard to diagnose at 35mph.
The problem Doug is that making a slight right turn also put a "bias" on just about the entire drive train. It actually could be in the rear end that is now being slightly "cocked" and thus making it go away. Is it a vibration felt in the steering wheel itself or is it a rattle that you can hear that goes away when you turn the wheel?
It could be in the front suspension. I have had shimmy's caused by the spindle bolts being loose, and another similar by the spindle arm loose in the spindle. Others have found frozen spring shackles or loose ball joint at the wishbone to crankcase. It could also be loose wishbone to spring perch. Sometimes it is caused by loose pitman arm. Just check for anything loose between the steering wheel and the front wheels. When you turn to the side it puts tension on the loose part. The other way loosens tension of the loose part.

This is a vibration from the engine and is transmitted through the entire car as well as the steering wheel. You can feel it in the body of the car, the floor and the steering. If turning the wheel just enough to compensate for a crown in the road on the left side is enough to make it go away. I recently had checked the motor mount bolts on the pan and they needed a bit of tightening and a pesky squeak disappeared. I still have the resonance though. It is interesting how a slight turn of the wheel silences it.
Put a leather patch in the radius rod ball socket, amazing how much a difference it makes!
Thanks Jim, is this isolating the vibration? Never heard of this.
