I believe these were give away's by a number of business's in the hay day of the Model T.

If you have one with a different advertiser by all means post a picture of it here or email me the picture and I'll post it here.

As and aside I got burnt out posting accessories daily like I had been doing in the past but will be rampimg up to start posting these threads again since I am only half way or so through the collection here. To date there are 381 posts under ACCESSORY OF THE DAY.

Jay, I enjoy your posts, and can understand getting burnt out from doing it! just resizing pictures is very time consuming.

Christopher, It gets to be a matter of logistics keeping track of what I have already posted since the accessories are not static and move around the house, garage, shed, and out doors, and co-mingle as the months grind forward. I have to do a search on the forum before I post and item to make sure I have not posted it before. I also have to check ahead and see if I have any old trade journal ads or other ephemera that dove tail with the accessory being cameo-ed to round out the post. Need less to say it takes a lot of hours of labor and research to keep a constant stream of accessories posted.
Art has also spent a goodly amount of research time providing patent data and other ephemera to add to these posts which add greatly to the Accessory of the day threads........Thank you Art!!!

Jay

Perhaps you could check the patent info printed on the protector in your photo.
As it's a slightly different shape than Dan's it could have a different patent number.

Art

Art, The patent # on mine is identical to the one you posted above.

I have a few of those. The first three are "Henry's Chest Protectors", and are the same as those above on the back side.

This next one is similar to those, but it doesn't have the metal edging around the cardboard. I didn't take it down to see what's on the back; the front says "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off."

This two-piece one is a bit different, being made of something like Masonite rather than cardboard. The upper portion slides up and down to vary the amount of air going thru the radiator.

It was made by the C. E. Erickson Co. in Des Moines.

Dan, I'll have to see if I have that issue and make a copy of the ad to keep with the unit.

Mike, Thanks for the pictures. I have never seen a two piece one of these before now.

It seems that Erickson also applied for and received a patent in 1926.
The newer patent shows his rad shell clips in detail.
