My last post was in regard to the variations of the T-1917 Model T wrench. I got some feedback but get the impression that not much has been documented about Ford Model T tools yet.
My next step is to sort through more than 100 T-5893 Spark Plug & Cylinder Head Bolt wrenches (T-5893). My first pass through was simple--there are two very different styles as shown below. One type has a box end wrench and the other has a socket end. As with the T-1917 wrenches, I have found different markings which I will document later.
For now, I am wondering if these two type of wrenches were used for different applications--like car vs. truck? Was one type made earlier than the other or were they available simultaneously? Any info or references would be appreciated.
The lower one was the early version. Try visiting the web site for Model T and other Ford wrench collectors. Naftco.
As Uncle Jack mentioned the bottom one is the one that came out in either late 13 or early 14. I have no idea when they introduced the newer style wrench, but I know they were using them by 1925.
Craig,
Your photos are great, very clear and detailed! Keep up the good work. This looks like the start to an interesting book/pamphlet.

This is the wrench used prior to the socket end one.
Jack Daron-Indy,
I don't know what website you are referring to for Naftco. Can you post a link?
The Truck wrench has an additional hex wrench hole added at the spark-plug end and has a TT number.
Since Charlie added the socket, let me ask if anyone has ever seen an earlier than that version #T-2356 in any collections?
I think I have one, but it is not exact to the drawing...

Thanks Art,I don't know how to do links.
No problem Jack - easy find with Google.
Anybody belong to NAFTCO? Are they active and how often do they publish newsletters? I checked their web site and the forum has no activity. I sent them a message, but no reply.
I belonged to them for a while. They are into all Ford tools for all years, not just Model T's.
I am a charter member (#11) and we get four newsletters /year. The web site is not to active,it's a shame, but There are alot of collectors out there.
