I have a new pin type switch but I cannot tell how to remove the old switch. It looks like the outer ring is just a press fit. Same with the inner ring?
Thank you.
What year car Dave?
Just press down on the back of the switch, and turn it. It will come apart.
Here is the back of the switch. It would be nice if you could push it out from the front, but that is not possible. Do you dig it out with a screwdriver or a pliers? I would like to save it if possible.

Dave, evidently the cardboard,or whatever you want to call the material the copper contacts are riveted to has swelled up some.Usually these come apart easy.I would try putting it in a dry place for a couple days.Getting radical with some prying might break the lock tumbler.
Those copper/bronze contacts just lift out . To get to the key potmetal piece you must unrivet the housing. If it is free and not broken,I don't recommend that.
