Has Stewart Warner 114-A being installed on T's on the factory or it is optional equipment? Can I install it to 1924 T?

Misha!

Welcome to the forum! From your posting at: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/179374/217907.html?1308126470 you appear to have two very nice looking slant windshield touring cars shown again below. The 1923 with the lower radiator and cowl in front and the 1924 higher radiator, cowl, and accessory steering wheel in the background.

Back in the 1950s it was believed that the 1915 Model T’s came with a hand Klaxon similar to the one you have. But additional research over the years determined that many owners of the 1915 Model T’s added a hand powered Klaxon because Ford had placed a bulb horn similar to the 1914 cars but under the hood of the 1915 cars. It just wasn’t very loud and did not do a very good job of warning people. So many of the owners purchased an accessory hand Klaxon (also call ah-ooga-horn because of the sound it makes).

So, the horn you have would have been an accessory and would NOT have come on any Model T Ford from the USA factory.

However, many folks like the sound and yes it could be mounted on your car. I believe they are seen much more often on the earlier cars -- especially the 1915s. Most USA owners mounted them on the false (fake) driver’s door. As nice as your Ts look – I would recommend you consider a temporary mounting. Using some wood, rubber strips and clamps so you could remove the horn later if you desired and you would not need to repair any holes in the body.

Also below are some safety items I try to share with new owners. You may already be aware of many of them – but it is much better to read about them than to experience them first hand.

Before you start driving it in other than an empty area be sure to check out some of the safety items discussed at:
http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/13483.html

they are not fast – slow moving vehicle sign: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/96515.html?1246128999

Safety Glass – although many speedsters do not have any glass: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/72116.html

Use safety wire and NOT lock washers or cotter pins on the two studs holding the wishbone to the underside of the engine. http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/47898.html Why? The studs can back out with the nuts still held tight by the lock washers.

Lots of safety items – looks like I’m behind on writing that safety article… http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/69429.html

Over center steering – shouldn’t happen on the later Ts – but if someone replaced your later teens steering gear housing or rebuilt it without the lock pin – it might happen: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/86345.html

Types of safety wire: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/41859.html

And if you have a gas hot water heater in the garage – be very very careful. The float in a Model T Carb will sometimes stick (or trash in the valve) and the carb will leak gasoline. Not too bad if there are no sparks. However, several homes, garages and cars have been lost when a gas hot water heater was near by and the car leaked gas.

And for some general background on Ts see Bruce McCalley’s online encyclopedia at: http://mtfca.com/encyclo/intro.htm
As other’s have already said, welcome aboard!

Respectfully submitted,

Thank You very much for detailed answer: I have read tonnes of information about T's before we (me and my partner) bought them. And I have translated into Russian Manual-1919 (Maybe it can be interesting for somebody - i can send it)

My T (1924) is keeped in dry garage with no eating, and I close pet cock on the bottom of gas tank every time after driving)

I drove about 60 miles since T arrived: I learned to drive it, so i feel this car.

I lubricated all points as it said in lubrication chart, and replaced cylinder head gasket.

Still have some troubles with speedometer, and some other. Thank you for warm welcoming)
