I had a wonderful time driving my T in the New Boston's (New Hampshire) 4th of July parade! It was the best ever, true small town Americana, it doesn't get any better than this. The best part in my opinion was they started the parade with pre-schoolers riding their tricycles in the very front! Mine was the only Model T in the parade, but a local Model A club showed up in full force. I posted some photos and if you would like to see more parade photos go to GoffstownToday.com and scroll down to album #1
Put the first miles on the Hack I got picked up last November. The Hack almost behaved well and got to learn alot of its personality.
This was a neat parade, the town had suspended parades as a budget cut a few years ago, their Citizen of the Year said give him 17.76 and he'd run a parade. He did.
I spent the better part of the day working on a friend's T mounting tires & wheels and a bunch of other little things.
Then I went inside and listened to some old Phil Hendrie shows and drank a couple Whiskey & cokes.
Not much excitement here.
We followed Jim & Cap Weir around!
I must say my T was perfect, no hint of trouble (wish I can say the same for my 1957 Buick Roadmaster, the water pump shaft broke when it got to New Boston). The temps were in the nineties for the parade and spectators were passing everything just walking by. I kept a sharp eye on my Moto- Meter and it never went into the clear small circle at the top!
Took the TT to Templeton for the parade. One of the best parades around. It goes about a mile down a narrow residential street that goes up & down and right and left. Many large Oak and Sycamore trees. Under each tree are mounds of people grinnin & waving. Then we move over a block to go up Main st. back to the start.
It's about a 12 mile back road trip with a couple of 20 MPH turns & one 15 just before a steep climb. The new carb worked just fine, never did use full throttle, it was less work to drive than before with the NH.
I stopped on the way back to drop Cap off at his place, and the bendix spring parted. It was the one that was on the truck when I got it. It looked like it had tried to start with the spark advanced. One of the wraps where the screw goes thru had opened up noticeably.
Sincerely
Jim Weir
Our club took part in the Auburn, Ca parade. We had 11 cars in the parade. Small town parades are a lot of fun. John
My son in law and I took "Lizzie" out for a little ride through all the celebrations around town. Can't get much more 'American' than a Model T. Lots of people taking pictures of it and waving.
In the evening, we packed my grand kids on the boat and went out into the middle of the Bay to watch fireworks all around us.
I was in the Auburn parade hauling a bunch of girl and boy scouts in the Machado's 1917 ALF fire engine. Not a model T but lots of room for the kids. What a brute to drive. It wants to go fast, not creep along. Scouts had a great time, parade ended at the fairgrounds for the fireworks show.
Thank you to everyone for all your comments and photos. Warren PS: the Buick has new water pump and should be ready for weekend use.
This might be a Model T forum but that ol Roadmaster is gorgeous.
Spent 4 days in Silverton CO enjoying the parade, fireworks and touring the mountains. We had the F350 and 5th wheel, left the T at home this trip. They did have a nice looking TT in the parade tho.
