If you have a 26/27 rear axle under an earlier chassis, which brake rods do you use? The chassis is a 1914
Chris
I would guess that the larger brakes put the levers a little farther forward, which would require a shorter rod. This is theory. I haven't measured and compared. Why not measure the distance and go with whatever rods fit best?
I've got a large drum Ruckstell under my '17 right now. The '26-7 rods work just fine although I don't think the earlier style rods would be a problem either. With the larger brake drums, you just don't need the "hump" in the early rods for radius rod clearance. Clevis adjustment may be necessary of course.
Christopher Kramer:
The early brake rod will NOT line up with the cam as good as the straight 26/27 rod.
