It is only 104 in South central Texas, so I decided to get the TT out and take it to a local watering hole in my rural area. You guessed it, out of gas, so I added some. Than the Mag position on the ignition switch would not work. I know all the things to look for, but I did not expect that rats had visited the vehicle. The mag wire had about 6 inches eaten away (GONE). I did not have any matching color, but the mag is color blind, so red wire worked just fine.
After I cool off here in the AC at the house I will try to go again.
What a great old rig, with purple lenses no less! The straw on the back is a nice touch...grin..hope you guys cool off soon. We've had a very mild summer here.
Willie, I bet that seat gets toasty in the sun.
Steve, you got that right, I try to park in the shade where possible as those black seats get very hot. Once I am seated and driving, the wind keeps me cool with no windshield. I did have a good ride and I am back home now.
Way to go, Willie!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Willie
Did you check to see if the rats are living in the hay ????? grin-grin
Bob
Willie,nice truck.
A sheep skin on the seat may help and would look "correct".
You are the winner of the "world's largest running board tool box" contest. That'a a big'un.
Dana, the truck was bought new in 1924 by my dad and his brothers for use in the family cotton gin business. It replaced the mules and wagon. The truck was bought as a "poor boy special", no battery or starter. Lights were magneto powered which explains the lack of a standard battery holder on the runningboard.
About 1958, the truck was sitting outside on my uncles place. I took posession and did some poor boy repairs as I was still in high school with little money. The original bed had 3 ft sideboards all the way around. I replaced the rotten wood with what ever I could find and made it a flat bed. (No side board loops) I do not know where the running board box come from, but it made a good battery/tool box. (Original box was completed rotted) I get it out and run it quite often.
PS It was my teaching vehicle for my two sons when they were 7 or 8 years old. It is good and slow and ideal teaching vehicle. (teaching to drive)
Willie, I keep hinting around the house that I could use a TT for the daily trips to Home Depot. My wife keeps replying that the Tahoe works just fine. True, but it would be more fun in a TT....
Dana, I almost agree with your wife, as a daily driver a TT would quickly lose most of the fun, but once in a while, it is great fun.
I just finished looking at some pictures about the MTFCI tour last week. That Semi trailer and TT truck shown is one of my sons that I taught to drive in our family TT.
Yeah, but you can't do this with a Tahoe.
Willie: How are you healing? Regards, Tim
Thanks for asking Tim. I still have some pain that causes me to limp a little, but I am almost walking normal again and I am ready to make the Texas T Party. I think this Texas heat is slowing me more than the leg. See you at the T Party.
