All,

I looking for someone to help me "rebuild" my engine.

I'd like to find someone who has a shop I could come to, and hit it each day until it's done. More like a teaching experience than just a rebuild. No rush - we could plan it all out.

Anyone know of someone who would be able to help?

Thanks,

Michael
Atlanta

Michael, I would be willing to help you, instruct you and as a former educator, I can tell you, you wil learn a lot. The problem is, you are in Atlanta and I am in northern Ohio. The daily commute would be mean!babbitt pour

Michael and Jack,

I had this very opportunity a couple of years ago with my 21' Runabout. I was fortunate to find someone like Jack who was willing to let me help and learn. The distance between the mechanic and I was about 240 miles one way. I would sometimes take off a Friday from my work and drive up real early to get there about 10 am. He and his family were so kind they would put me up in their spare bedroom. We had many productive work days and a great many evenings of conversation.

I wasn’t able to be there for every part of the rebuild, and of course I didn't become an expert, but I did learn much and now have a much better understanding of my Model T's. I also made a friendship with a family that will last a lifetime.

Michael, if you have the opportunity to do this, even if it’s one full day’s work at a time, do it! It is well worth your time.

Michael,

There was a guy in Sparta, GA that did engine work. I think he did mostly A's but I think he did some T work as well. His name was Billy Garland. I don't know if he is still doing it or not. I had him do my Model A engine, but that was 10 years ago. Ask around in the Model A circles and see if you can find someone with his contact information. When I was dealing with him, he was expressing some disappointment in the fact that his son wasn't interested in learning and eventually taking over the business. He may be very willing to show someone the ropes.

Hal
