Great photo with much to look at. But what caught my eye was the young fellow standing, wearing a campaign (?) hat. I don't know if what I remember being told about the wearing of them is correct or not.
Any military collectors that know the real tradition of those?
Also I noticed the leggings. Many soldiers wore wrappings between their breeches and shoes. Again, I don't know the significance of that, but I have looked at hundreds of photos. I am not an expert, even though I have a mostly complete Medic uniform from WWI. It even has a blood stain on the tunic pocket.
