During this week we taking part in the most respectable and serious Russian oldtimer event: Ilya Sorokin's Oldtimer Gallery. It takes place in Moscow 2 times a year, since 2001, if I'm not mistaken.
It is the most wide oldtimer event, that situated in the building - Crocus-city Hall.

This year, beside usual members of the exposition (commercial and professional restaurators), Sorokin invited amateur auto clubs from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and central Russia.

So, yesterday we drove about 200 kilometers to get there (of course, T was riding on a trailer!).

Here are some pictures from the day before opening the Gallery: mounting of expositions

One of the most interesting expositions - Soviet self-made cars. In the terms of total deficite of the cars, it was very popular way to get a car. So, the fantasy was almost unlimited :-)

To be continued.

Didn't see any '59 Chevys. My first new car was a '59 Chevy Impala Sports Coupe.

I like the 59 Lincoln, I had a 58 convertable in my younger days. Lots of fun, but I don't think I could afford the fuel today. About 8 miles to the gallon or less the way I drove it.

Seemed to be quite a penchant for oversized American tin back in the day. Leading me to ask: what is the cost of fuel over there Michael? By the way that snow mobile is great! looks like the old 20th.Century Limited railroad engine. Also noticed that what I assume are older Russian models are quite light in the "bling" (as in chrome) department.

Our fuel price is about 1 dollar per liter or less than 4 dollars per gallon. So, fullsized cars are expensive in use. That's why many of them - only collector's things.
