hey fellers,
what actually holds the band material to the band. I can see what appears to be rivits on the out side of the band but nothing on the inside. Which makes sense because if the were on the inside, wouldn't the rub the drums?
Thanks

They are Brass split rivots.

The rivets are soft brass and they are hidden in the wowen band.

Rob,

As mentioned, the rivets are put in with the head on the outside and the spit end on the inside, You then carefully position the split part so the two ends will go across the band when you bend them down. Theory is you are less likely to wear a groove in your drum if the rivets are positioned this way.

Be sure the rivets you use are 100% brass and not brass plated steel. You want the softer metal from brass.

Yes, bonded sets are a common item. I would certainly use them if they were in good condition Kerry!

I have heard rumors of people bonding Kevlar bands on using some sort of adhesive. Anyone have first hand knowledge of the results? The rivets work fine for me.
