I ran across this AERMORE exhaust whistle in an antique store yesterday. Whistle only, the adapter to hook to exhaust pipe is missing. He is asking $95----- what is the value? ae

Reasonable if everything is tight. I think repops are about 3x the money.

I have one on my car and I use it mostly as a safety device. Well that and for fun.

I had one on my Coupe, and will be putting it on my TT.

I love the train whistle!

I bought mine on epay, and if I recall it was about $200 or so, its an oldie, that all the nickel is worn off.

Even bad-attitude teenagers who wear trench coats, can't help but smile when the whistle screams as you drive through an intersection.

That is a real earlly one and looks like too much tube is cut away at the base. I have an early orignal that I would sell for $95.

I just have the whistle part showing above and not the step pedal and exhaust link, so I haven't used it or tried it out.

I could blow on mine and it would work, not real loud but worked. So that might be an easy way to check it out.

I was test driving and drove down the very busy street my shop is on...There is a T intersection in front of the shop. As I approached the intersection and I was going on thru, I laid on that whistle. The busy intersection stopped. With wind dust and smoke at my back I blew thru' that area....at 25mph.
I got their attention. They let me by. It is very handy when you see people who are about to pull out, you know when to use it.

Fellows,

I have one on my 1912 Chocolate van which I call my neckbreaker. When out doing a drive around, I use it to draw attention to the van. You should see how quickly the coffee drinking sidewalk diners screw around to see where the train is coming from. These whistles are really impressive when accellerating between city buildings.

The question is can one put more than more than one Aeomore on and will they both perform well?

No Gary. It takes a pretty good exhaust stream to make ONE sound good.......if you want to wake someone up you need to be at least half throttle working hard.

Jim-
You should be able to get a nice sound out of it if you have a good set on lungs. If it doesn't sound good because of missing parts, pass on it.

I enjoy blowing my Aermore while crossing RR tracks, but really love blowing it while going through tunnels!

Thanks for all the feedback, I did not notice the missing nozzles. My car came with a complete AERMORE which I took off and hung on a nail in the shop. I could not convince myself to cut a hole in my new stainless exhaust pipe that I installed!!

The real question I had was can you put two aeomores on the car and use them alternately?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Gary Hagen on Sunday, November 06, 2011 - 02:17 am:

I am asking the question because I have a motorcycle aeomore with a higher pitch so wanted to do a low medium high with 3 different whistles installed on the car.

They are also a good indicator of how well the car is running.

Gary

Go to Langs website and search for whistle. At the bottom you will see AER-DBL. That might do it for you.
