Just broke my ankle so 6 wks with no weight on my left leg, so surfing is going be taking up quite a bit of my time. You may seen the original Harold Lloyd film this was cut from. wouldn't you love to find that cab now? Scary bit is the horse stunt - it's not undercranked, you can see how the horses are leaning over in the curves. Could have really hurt a horse doing that.

Not being American, I don't know who the baseball star is, but then I doubt if an American would recognise Don Bradman or Douglas Jardine.

The movie is Speedy and the passenger is none other than Babe Ruth.

From 1915 to 1942 Babe Ruth appeared in sixteen theatrical releases, and played the lead in some of them.

Not to be outdone, Lou Gehrig also did a cameo shot in "Speedy". Just behind Babes left forearm.

All of the interior shots of the car are on open air "bucks", or only half a car. So the camera can film it.
,
Early in the film, the New York Minute section Lloyd is driving a man around who's bouncing up and down in the cab. Although, when the car is seen from the exterior, that man isn't in it.

Toon, I doubt if I'll be in France this year. We tow the T behind a 1976 VW Camper. The project scheduled for the first quarter of 2012 was a VW overhaul;- rebuilt motor, new fridge, redesigned interior. With active life on hold for probably 2 months and then summer arriving with other work to do, I think my touring season is going to be short. The camper dropped a valve this summer so I have to do the motor before I can use it.

Back to Harold Lloyd, thanks for the wealth of information produced, some great links. And I was only kidding you all about not knowing Babe Ruth.
