From previous we know we have forummers in Christchurch and surroundings. I've heard that there was a quake yesterday. Status?

Hi all,

Its not much fun being on the second story at work when one hits.

No reports of fatalities which is such a blessing.I think most of the 'injuries' will now be physcological- Christchurch was looking forward to what should have been a nice relaxing holiday season after quite a hard year but it is not to be.

We will have to accept life may be like this for a number of years and learn to live with it, adjust our routines around it and build for it.

Christchurch is no longer the city we knew, our history is going building by building and sadly people are changing too...

But you have cities there in the US that put up with quakes and survive so we will just get used to it :-)

is a list of the activity last night (THe 30 most recent quakes)- no one can sleep with this kind of action under their houses!!

How long did any of these last? Your link doesn't say. If they're more than a couple of minutes, then mayhap the stress has been relieved, but if they were short bursts (less than a couple of minutes), woo, this does not bode well for the rest of us in the "Ring of Fire" IMHO.

Hi all,

They are short bursts of 20 - 40 secs in nature

From the shaky isles

Just watched the BBC World news on PBS. No fatalities, thank goodness. Good luck to all our New Zealand friends. Very glad you are all still with us. Best of luck and try to have a Merry Christmas.
