Up date on project.
I have borrowed and made copy of spindle assemble and am having pattern made. I'd still would like to locate and perches an orig. pair if any one has them and be willing part with them.
A pair was for sale at the Chickasha swapmeet:
I think someone here on the forum stepped forward and said he was the one that bought them when I displayed this picture.....
The look slightly different from yours. They where "the real thing":
Thanks Michael
That is for the 44" & 38" Snowmobile assembly and I have them and the ones for the standard gage. The ones I'm looking for is as shown, its the only one I've seen in 40 years, there made by the F-S Mfd Co. maker of the Snow Bird and were made starting about 1926-27.
Do you knew any of the car people in Austria? There is a Snowmobile set there some place. I've tracked my first set that I owned and had to sell to Austria, I don't have a name(lost in the burglary) and been told he died in the 90s and I understand that his girl friend ended up with all his cars and things. I was never able to get a name for her, I'm just wondering where they are now. Searching for things sometimes is more fun.

Bob's aluminum "representative" copy showed up today. Its a stand in for the original that needs to not be wandering around the country and maybe get lost.
As I get in to it, I'll stick in some pattern making photos here.

Did a little dimensional checking to see where we are on Bob's spindle "aluminum copy". This is old timey machine shop processing using vernier height gage on surface plate. First set up is in relation to king pin bolt center line and second set up is in relation to ski attach bolt center line.
Made a little progress today
Looking more like a pattern

I wish to thank you for keeping me updated
on this project and for volunteering to make this pattern for me. This part can't be
purchased and I have only found this one in 30 years of looking. Your knowledage, skills and abilities are far beyond anything I could have achieved and will allow me to finally use the Snowmobile and the Snow Bird that have been lacking these parts to safely operate them.
I have 6 people in 5 different states who I'm helping assemble their units and are in need of these parts also and I will provide them when completed. If there are others working on these types of unites and need help or information, contact me.
This forum and the men and women on it - as posters or just lookers - are what makes this hobby move onward & upward.
Thanks again to John and all of you that are helping others in the past, the present and in
future.

Thanks Bob = should make some good progress in the four day weekend coming.
Bob - if you would, ask your foundry what size flask they will want to use on this. I may try to get these mounted on a board - so they are not a "loose" pattern.
John
A little more progress on this first half.
John
Just checked with the foundry and the measurements they gave were 12X14 flask.
That fantastic.

Thanks Bob. I'll see if I can round up a suitable size mounting board/plate.

For continuity, here are the photos posted on 24 June gone missing during recent forum difficulties.
Bob - I will try to get this packed up Sunday and sent out Fed Ex Ground in the coming week.
It will be shipped with the pattern mounted for safety, but will be easy to get off for your finishing work.
I'll enclose a note in the box.
Thanks John GREAT NEWS
Will be in contact with you shortly to take care of loose ends.
