I am looking for someone besides Synders that makes up seat springs for Model Ts. I was given the name Carlin Manufacturing but their phone number and email address are no longer valid. I think they have gone out of business. Any leads you can provide will be helpful.

I am not aware of Anyone other than Snyder making seat springs. I understand that they can custom make seat springs for just about anything if you supply some dimensions. Bill

All the vendors sell them, but, I believe they all get them from Snyder's. I've gotten several different sets over the years and have always been extremely satisfied with them. Mike

Snyders is the only place that makes seat springs. I have always been satisfied with them. They do a great job and are very punctual.
On the other hand another vendor who makes T sheet metal does good work BUT "not always very punctual". Nuff said about those folks. And I believe they are the only ones that make T sheet metal. I guess we have to be happy with who we have making the parts and be glad sombody is making them.

I'll add to the Snyder endorsement as well.
I NEEDED a new seat spring assembly for my '20 Coop and got it from Snyders.
I think it was only about a week when it arrived here in Wisconsin!
Was it CHEAP? NOPE.....about $200 in my door.
Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!
It is perfectly made.

Snyder's is the only game in town, as far as I know. They have all the standard T springs available. If you need a one-off custom one made (as I did for an aftermarket-bodied Huckster), their charge is $250 for whatever you want. Just send them the dimensions. Yes, it's pricey, but I'm happy with the spring I got. They do top-quality work.

Update. I found the outfit I was looking for.
Car-Line Manufacturing in Beaumont Texas. They will do my 12 roadster seat spring for a little more than half of what Synders charges. I got the lead from Joe Anino, the upholstery guy in Sacramento. He claims the quality beats Synders all to hell. And the turnaround time is about a week. Synders quoted me four to five weeks. I will post another update when I receive the springs. Good to know there is another supplier.

How about an update?

Curious...Macs, Langs, Snyders and Car-line are all quoting the exact same price for seat springs. I wonder if this is price fixing, or something else going on.

Lets see, if they are made by Snyder's, and they is kind enough to supply them to the other antique parts suppliers, I suspect they will all be close in price. Maybe they gives a discount to the other suppliers for volume, and they add to that to make a profit so they can stay in business. I see no problem with that. I obtained seat springs from Snyders many years ago. I had tried to get the old ones to work, and my welding and fitting looked like junk. The new ones from Snyders were beautiful and fit well!

A+++ for Snyders. Its real nice a vendor is making springs with the quality and fit that they do. They will make any spring that you have for most any old car. All they need is the old one for a pattern. If I am not mistaken seat springs is what they started with and the rest came along afterwards.

From what I read in the earlier post on this thread it seems like the other spring company makes springs if he has your old one or dimemsions to go by.
I'll bet when Synders started making T springs years ago he kept a pattern from them and started making them in larger quanities and eventually cornered the market. If you have absolutely nothing to go by for specs for another then I guess Snyders is the place to go if nobody else has what you need for a specific Model T. Especially if he has them in stock.
It will be interesting to know of another supplier though. Competition is healthy.

Regarding the post by Richard Gould: "He (Car-Line Manufacturing) claims the quality beats Synders all to hell"

That isn't possible. Someone is talking through their hat (or some lower body location).......
My upholsterer is having some really bad health problems so the new spring is still just a spring.
I was given a lead time too but the seat spring arrived WAY ahead of the quoted time frame.
I'll take some photos tomorrow.

Update, I got the springs from Car Line and compared them with some others I got from Synders. The quality of construction and materials is about the same, although I note that the bottom channels used by Synders is heavier duty and Synders spring spacing seems a bit better, but that could be due to a slightly different seat pattern. The initial quote I got from Car Line was not what I ended up paying, but I don't recall who was cheaper. The fit of the Car Line spring is outstanding, though. Would I recommend one over the other. Probably not. Each one is good.

Thanks for the update Richard....... :-)
BTW.....I was not referring to YOU regarding my comment but to the supplier's claim.
I'll still post some photos tomorrow.

To me it's just interesting what a little shopping can turn up.

Thanks for the update Richard, happy new seats!
