truth in advertising, that place really wrecked em
It says Milwaukee on one of the buildings to the right - I wonder where exactly it was?
Keith
My guess in the Menomonee
valley. The building looks like an old train building.

The description there says, " I looked the location and date up at the Milwaukee Public Library site. So, here's some background that others besides me will, maybe, find a fascinating backward look through a portal in time! Shot for the Fire Prevention Bureau by photog Henry J. Hunter on June 10, 1932, these pix show what must have been one of Milwaukee's biggest auto wrecking and parts resale businesses. Apparently on the city's southeast side, this seems to have been named simply Milwaukee Auto Wrecking and was located in the vicinity of Kinnickinnic Avenue and Bay Street. Unfortunately, I can't make out some words of the building copy, e.g., "Wisconsin's Largest Auto Replacement Parts"?"
I can remember an auto salvage yard around the Milwaukee River on Kinnickinnic in the 1960s, as well as one in the western Menomonee Valley or near Miller Valley. Could those possibly be ships on the left side of the picture?
I found the picture on the Milwaukee Public Library site:

The store front of the building on KK is at: http://content.mpl.org/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/HstoricPho&CISOPTR=2498&CI SOBOX=1&REC=5
It shows "Title: Milwaukee Auto Wreckers Property and Junk Yard. Description: View of junk yard, store, and old automobiles. Used auto parts and tires stacked or strewn. Scrap automobiles and trucks lined up everywhere. Note broken windows throughout building. Place Name: Milwaukee Auto Wreckers. Old address: 904 Kinnickinnic Ave, 76 S Bay St, 92 S Bay St. Current address: 168 S Kinnickinnic Ave, 718 E Bay St."
So this may be the place I remember on KK. As I recall there was a metal railroad bridge going over the road near the junkyard, and you did not see any of the yard from KK Ave.
Well, if those streets are correct it's either at the location of Milwaukee Forge just off of Hwy 794 or the Baseball fields directly behind it.
OK disregard my post, I was just a little off
